USDA 2000010-008 HOPS

Experimental USDA Hop 008 Profile: Tangerine, peaches, fresh pine

This new experimental hop variety from the USDA's Elite Line has gone by the number 2000010-008. Nugget is 008's mother and was crossed with another experimental male. 008 was selected from the Elite growing line during Hopsource that was hosted by the Brewers Association here at Yakima Valley Hops. Brewers from around the world who were in Yakima for hop selection picked 008 out of a long list of varieties. 008 is very fruit-forward with tangerine, meyer lemon, and stonefruit. There is a nice backdrop of fresh pine that makes it complex in a classic west coast IPA kind of way.

USDA 2000010-008 is also an agronomic standout because it is ready in the earliest harvest window, as early as August 14th even in Oregon (which is usually a week or so behind WA).
